    Pet Peeves

    - Winter weight gain. I was in Marina Mall today, and I can't believe that I can't fit into size lala hiphuggers! Grrr! I hate winter! I hate the fact that it's too cold to even sweat, and I hate the fact that I can't stop eating at parties! The result of my shopping spree? I ended up buying size lalala pants! Argh! I HATE my body metabolism! I had to cut the picture below because all of a sudden, I had something extra showing.... GRRR... Where the hell did they come from?

    - Smoking lectures. My friend Debbie rode in my parents' car today, and I almost died when my folks brought up the topic of smoking effects. F.Y.I- Me and Debbie have been semi-chainsmokers for a couple of years now, and *duh* we KNOW that smoking IS bad bad BAD! We DO plan to quit, but I just HATE it when people lecture us to death like we're a bunch of kids...

    - Stalkers! This Thursday, me and Debbz encountered the worst thing you could EVER possibly encounter while malling--- > s t a l k e r s! We were just walking, minding our own business, when some dude came up to us and asked, "Excuse me, is this Seef?" (f.y.i- the mall we were in WAS Seef Mall)... The question was just so *duh*, so we just muttered a sarcastic "yeah" and walked away. But the dude just wouldn't quit. He followed us a few steps more, and asked, "Is this New Life Hotel?" =( That did it! This guy was definitely playing... and it was such a piss off! He wasn't even cute! So, without answering, we just walked away, only to find out that the guy was following us na pala! (Through Magic Island till Seef Megaplex). We sought refuge in the ladies' toilets, but he was STILL waiting outside! We were panicking, and we called up my sister's boyfriend to come pick us up. He did, and the faggot finally left us alone. *Phew!*
    - Badmouthers/ Backstabbers. I HATE people who backstab others. Recently, I found out that a trusted friend of mine had been bad mouthing me off to another friend, for no reason at all! And after all that we've been through, I KNOW I didn't deserve that. Not being a fan of plastic-ism, I just can't understand why some people would even want to hang out with you, when, yun pala, they hate your guts. It's rude, and downright stupid...

    - Prissy sales ladies/cashier/ waiter people. Okay, with all do respect to these people, there is NOTHING wrong with your jobs. But I just get so annoyed when I ask for assistance and the sales lady I'm talking to just waves her hand and says bluntly, "dun oh!" Before my cracker and tuna diet, I was a frequent Cello's doughnuts customer. I told the lady taking my order that I wanted a Chocnut doughnut. But when she was packing my box of 6 into a.... box, I spotted a Chocolate doughnut, which I did not order. I pointed this out, and she asked me, matter-of-factly, "Are you sure? Kasi sabi mo Chocolate eh. Nakalagay sa papel oh!" I said no, coz, I REALLY didn't order chocolate, I said CHOCNUT and she pratically scolded me when she said, "Hay! Tang ina! Wasting my time!" If there's a word that could describe such a woman, that would be b i t c h. How dare she! It was HER mistake! And isn't it a common rule that the customer is ALWAYS right? *sigh*

    - Trying hard Asian Hip Hoppers. There is nothing wrong with rap. In fact, I happen to be a fan of Dice and K9's "Itsumo" and I love American RnB. But if you're a girl in a pop cultured city, and you're a girl with good taste, you'll agree that Filipino guys wearing over sized jerseys, HUGE bling blings, diamond earrings, and caps turned sideways, are, J.O.L.O.G.S. (Or in my friend's words, JJSB's... Jumping Jologs since Birth.) Gosh! It's just so pathetic seeing these guys in the mall who go, "Yo yo, wassup ya'll?" "Peace out ma nigga." ...... blah blah blah.... It's corny, and an insult to our culture. For guys who do that..please! Just be yourself. It's definitely UNCOOL... and a major TURN OFF!

    - The country's advertising industry. Lucy Torres for a block and white commercial? Come on! Yeah, she IS immaculately gorgeous, and I have nothing against pale white skinned people, but Lucy? Hello!!! She was BORN white! Why the hell would the advertising people put her in a skin whitening ad? It's cheating! This year, they also put Georgina Wilson for Pond's skin whitening facial wash.... =( (f.y.i- Georgina's a British mestiza. *Duh* She's naturally white..) Why the hell not get Whitney Tyson to endorse? If the product works on her,... holy cow! Imagine your sales.

    - INSULTING commercials... While we're on the subject of commercials, I must say that some advertisements on TV nowadays are senseless and insulting. For instance, that "buhaghag" hair commercial? Puhleese don't tell me that no one gets that kind of "Karen hair" from time to time... Did the people behind these advertisements even consider the humidity and pollution behind all those "bad hair days?" I'm a bit hostile because my hair is ALWAYS like that. It gets buhaghag ALL the time, no matter what shampoo or conditioner I use. And yeah, I HAVE tried their product and joys of all joys, it didn't work for me. Plus, THOSE skin whitening commercials? Now what the hell is wrong ba with being brown skinned or "maitim?" People are rushing off to bleaching places because they're being brainwashed with this kind of commercialism. Shame shame shame. What the hell is TV and radio doing to innocent people? Honestly, it's sad.

    - The over emphasis that only "maputi" girls are beautiful. That only "skinny" girls are sexy. It's unfair, and strictly not what defines reality. Everyone is beautiful...kaya lang, not everyone can see it.

    - Matapobre people. People who step on others' toes just because they consider themselves better than everyone else. I'm talking about the people who put others down in public just to make themselves feel better. Someone who insults someone else without looking at him/herself. Unfortunately, I HAVE encountered some people, and it's downright nasty.... lalong lalo na if the person is innocent and is being picked on. Sad sad sad.

    - The poverty in our country is so not funny. Our country is going down. And if the government won't do anything about it, what na? It always ruins my day every time I see little children run naked in the streets begging for money. The other day, I was in the car, and this girl threw water on the windshield and started wiping it off. Then she knocked on the driver's window and asked for some coins. Can you imagine what kind of parents these kids have? Why don't they take care of their kids? So kawawa naman. When a parent becomes a parent, he and she must do everything to shoulder the family's needs. If the parents really cared, they would never let their kids on the streets... Then again, no one can really blame them... what with the country's unemployment rate and all... Argh... but STILL...

    - The pollution. No questions asked. I once read that this guy was diagnosed with lung cancer because of the air pollution. And he has NEVER smoked a cigarrette his whole life. Everyone knows that Manila is the second dirtiest city in the world. What used to be crystal clear waters, are now disgusting garbage dumpsites and breeding grounds for all sorts of bacteria and diseases. We have yet to find a government politician who can solve all these problems... Question is... WHEN will THAT happen? Hm.

    - People in my age group who don't care about education. No. I'm no teacher, and I do have "lazy" moods from time to time. But at least, I appreciate every second of school life. So what annoys me is this- people who make "takas" from their studies, flunk, then screw their lives up. I'm no goodie goodie, and I'm not perfect, but I know enough to not mess up my future. It's sad how so many kids can't even reach college, yet, there are so many who don't even want to stay in college. They're just not making the most out of it. Waste of money. Waste of time. Waste of the country's only hope for development. Most of all, waste of a good life.

    - Overpriced whatever. First off, Starbucks. Ok, I admit, I am a Starbucks customer. And a regular one at that. But sometimes talaga, their prices are just sooo exag. I mean, this November-December 2004, they had this promo, wherein you had to collect a total of 21 stickers, with each purchase of selected drinks, so that you could get the 2005 planner. According to my calculations... , 21 stickers is equivalent to around 2200 pesos. All that for a planner. Hay... the things some people do. Then there are those signature clothes. But that can't be helped. People who've got the cash splurge all the time, and I admit, when I have the money, I do too. So what is it exactly that peeves me? The inevitable-ness of splurging on things I don't really need.. just to feel good about myself. Or is it because I wanna experience the sossy-ness of it all? Blame it on those teen mags. *hay*

Hey, the young lady writes very well. @>--;--

"..Everyone is beautiful...kaya lang, not everyone can see it."

-- Our standard of feminine beauty is undoubtedly strongly influenced by the incessant bombardment of images of "beautiful" women. In the Philippines, almost all beauty queens, models & actresses appearing on magazine covers, billboards, TV screens, & newspapers are invariably "maputi" and "slim," usually of the "mestiza" type, long-legged and have high-bridged noses. And it is crazy because only a small percentage of the population possessed such physical characteristics. The only possible way to slowly change people’s concept of beauty is to have more print & TV models, beauty pageant winners, and celebrities with more varied physical features. After all, plump women are considered beautiful in many periods of Western civilization.
