Stupid Discriminating Commercials
Okay, WHO saw that Pond's whitening cream commercial with Kelly Misa in it? You know, the one where this Filipina girl gets introduced to her mestizo boyfriend's mother?
Honestly, THAT commercial sucked! As in BIG TIME!
First of all, since when did skin color become the basis for beauty? That commercial was just so full of blah about how wonderful it is to be white. It just brainwashes its viewers into thinking that people will like them even more if they posess a flawless cream complexion.
That commercial just made me sooooo MAD!
It indirectly tries to persuade people that being "brown and Asian" is ugly. It's telling people that no matter what, the mestizo race is ALWAYS better... and more accepted by society. Shame on whoever thought up that commercial's concept. Shame shame shame! It's purely racist!!! An insult to the Filipino culture. And the fact that it's shown in a country dominated by brown skinned people? Sad. Sad. Sad.
Now, I don't have anything against Pond's. I use their product myself to get rid of skin discolorations and blemishes. But come on! That commercial was just soooo bad! Kulang na lang na they say, "Look like a mestiza and win the heart of your mother-in-law." There is nothing wrong with being tanned. If Filipinos always look up to the Western countries for everything, and copy them in every possible way, no bloody wonder we still haven't attained our own sense of identity and reached the development stage! Whatever happened to Pinoy pride?
*haaaaaay*
