our sense of urgency.
it was alright. i expected so much more, especially since alot of people claimed that the flick was better than the book. personally, though, i think it was the opposite. the grand performance was a disappointment for one. and the dialogues were sooo hard to understand! every 5 minutes we were like... "what did she say? what happened?" hell.... sana they put subtitles!
but watch it anyway. if you haven't read the book yet, that might prove to be a bigger advantage and you might enjoy it more than i did. i just tend to be a bit more of a critic when it comes to books-turned-movies. but hey, the costumes were amazing. and so was the setting. Gong li was awesome. her acting was so convincing compared to Zhang Ziyi... and personally, I find this Gong girl prettier. ;)
we ate at teriyaki boy and stuffed ourselves silly with jap food. how appropriate. there were no classes today, and it kinda sent me on some sort of guilt trip because despite the crisis happening now, we're gallivanting away in the mall. (along with ALOT of people by the way) and the only thing on our minds right now is... "may pasok na ba bukas?" yikes. we are so immature! but hey, as if naman we could do anything to fix the problem.
so on our way home, we saw this super duper cuuuuute guy on the LRT2. as in. he was sooo hot. anyway, we got all kiliiiig when he and his friends would turn to look at us. =) heehee. ruby came up with this phrase we should use every time guys turn to look at us... "geisha coming through." cos while we were walking through the station, my friends and i literally turned heads! haha. that's us. attracting attention wherever we go. so we stalked the cute guy, before saying goodbye to him forever. i hope he lives in katipunan so we can bump into each other again. ;p dork dork dork.
anyway, call me selfish whatever... but im hoping that there won't be classes again tomorrow. i've just got tons on my plate right now... and well... a few days off won't be so bad huh?
besos!

saw it :D
on the contrary, thought it was quite good, despite the following flaws:
1 - Setting doesn't look like Gion
2 - Accent ticked me off
3 - Geisha make-up was less than what i had expected
4 - When the movie started in japanese, i was like, "wtf are the subtitles?"
Good comments:
1 - Gong Li is huwaw! I saw her in one of her olde rmovies and she was good there too.
2 - The guy who plays Nobu was good. He showeed the emotion i expected.
3 - Michelle Yeoh is THE perfect Mameha!
4 - Zhang Ziyi was good but cudve done better
5 - Ken Watanabe looked too young to be the chairman :D
6 - I want kimonos too....
yeah. michelle yeoh was awesome. and oh yeah, i expected mother to be an old old hag. ;p
